Elk Creek Darby Road ends at Rt. 268.
There is a BP General Store there and that is where you turn on to
Elk Creek Darby Road.
2/10ths of a mile and the Resort is on
the left.
When you see a white sign on the right
that reads "Cross Country Cuts" be prepared for the resort entrance
on the left.
The driveway can be a little tricky with
a loaded-down bike. It is a downhill S with the first half broken
pavement.
Alltel phones have cell service, not
sure of other carriers.
Nearest motels are 14 miles
away in
Wilkesboro, NC.
The BP General Store has it all. It is
a mini grocery with hardware section. Domestic beer, wine, fresh
cuts of meats, veggies and all other stuff you are likely to need.
Roost Rules points out that bottles are
not allowed. This is a rule they do not enforce unless someone
needs the extra attention.
Foam cooler with ice is available for
$4.50 for the duration of your stay. I think it is one load of ice
with additional 10 lbs for $2.50.
Firewood is available - 12 pieces for
$6.00; you haul it in the wheelbarrow provided.
Tent sites can be had on
what they call the creek, I think of it more as a small river.
Fishing is said to be good with smallmouth bass predominant.
Level of fishing license enforcement is unknown, but you be the judge.
