Sunday, 31 May 09Skeeters Pit Barbque

It was a great afternoon with 16 folks on 13 bikes. Beautiful weather, real good food, friendly folks and riding motorcycles!  What else is there?

After Skeeters, some riders headed straight back, but several made a stop at Rita's Water Ice, then a return route via Rt. 522 South to Rt. 235 North into Laurelton, then back home via Rt. 45 West. We got home at 4:00 PM after 151 miles total.

This place is worth the trip - as shown by Andrew's photo of his "soon to vanish" meal (below).

Participants:
Ron Summers, Gary Mayhew, Scott Rogers, Rick Sampsell and Sandy Mellott, Marty Mondock, Jay Bartlett, Bob McGarvey, Shawn Albright, Christopher Clark, Michael Corsello and daughter Sarah, Al Klinger, Andrew Biddle, Woody & Ann.

to the White Rose M/C Club near Hanover PA for their famous "AMA Class A Professional Hill Climb, Pro Seriesc/o Jay Bartlett

"We had a beautiful, if a tad warm, day for the 3.5 hour ride (with rest stops) to WRMC, with the first 100 miles being mostly challenging and scenic two-lane blacktop.  Five riders left from Kissel Motor Sports at 8:30, joined by a sixth (Matt Langguth riding up from Washington DC) at the event.  The hill itself has been reshaped to add a left-hand turn after the second break, making it even more difficult, so the climbing action was pretty exciting.  Andrew Biddle's parking lot shot will give you an idea of the number and variety of bikes people rode in (and that's just part of one of the three lots).  See Dan Lehman's Picasa album for more fantastic photos.  We stayed through about 3 hours of the competition, then split into two groups (scenic backroaders and just-get-there slabbers) for the return to State College.  Total mileage was approximately 275.  Six riders: Matt Langguth, Andrew Biddle, Dan Lehman, Craig Henninger, Ernie Henninger and Jay Bartlett."
